Since our April Central Committee meeting, the Linn County Democrats have been more than busy with a number of events. Please take a look at what we have been up to and what we are scheduling for the rest of the month. As always, you are welcome to attend any of our future events.

- 2nd District Democratic Convention, which was held in Linn County, and where many of our LCDCC members, were key players serving on District Committees such as arrangements, credentials, platform, & rules. This convention was a huge success that seated over 570 delegates! Oh by the way, when you see LCDCC members Norm Sterzenbach, Lynda Waddington & Ebony Luensman, congratulate each of them on being elected to the State Central Committee.
- Hall of Fame Dinner which was held at the beautiful Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education building. If you were unable to attend, you not only missed out on a whole lot of fun, but also, you missed an opportunity to participate in Linn County’s recognition and appreciation of two outstanding Democrats, Charley Zahorik and Joyce Nielsen. Special thanks in making this a memorable evening are extended to the Zahorik family, Ironworkers Local 89, Hawkeye Labor Council, Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Building Trades, Kay Hale, LCDCC Financial Secretary & Niki Russell for gathering the items for the silent auctions. (This successful auction bidder brought home a John Culver for U.S. Senate bumper sticker!)
- Campaign Headquarters, located at 1229 First Avenue SE in Cedar Rapids, moving day is Thursday, May 15, and when we will begin to bring office furniture into the building. There is a lot to do and we need all the help we can get. So if you have a truck, we need it! If you can not lift a desk but you can clean one, we need you! If you can donate supplies (office, cleaning, or paper products), we need them! For more information, please contact IDP staffer, Derek Eadon, deadon@iowademocrats.org.
- Democratic Candidates Forum for County Offices will be held at our next regular LCDCC meeting on May 28, 2008, Longbranch Convention Center, at 7 p.m. This will be a great opportunity for you and your friends to hear from each of these democratic candidates regarding their vision for the offices of Linn County Supervisor, Linn County Sherriff, and Linn County Auditor. Please mark calendar and plan on joining us!
